Images from Rural Mequon Wisconsin

On my many trips to visit Mequon Wisconsin I noticed this abandoned farm house and barn. Mequon appears to be on the verge of development so I would expect this farm to soon be converted into a suburban development or retail center. Part of it is already being reclaimed by nature. The house that had been most recently partially renovated has been damaged by vandalism. A failed attempt at a new life given up. The farm is from another time complete with out house and likely once was quite important to a family who worked the land. But now that land is mostly gone. Yet the farm likely still has emotional links and latent memories. All of this results in a sense of mystery which I think leaves a sense of the hidden and unsaid in these photos.

Two Images Selected for Sheldon STL 250 Competition

Well I was happily surprised at first when I received an email telling me that one of my submitted photos was selected to be in the show and the book for the Sheldon Gallery STL at 250 photo contest. Then yesterday I received another email. At first I thought it was a mistake or that my first photo had been rejected for some reason. But after looking at the email and following the link a second photo appears to have also made it into the show and the book. I don't yet know how many photos were submitted to the competition but it had to be a lot so having two photos out of three selected seems pretty incredible. Woooo Hoooo! I am really amazed, honored and very pleased as this is the first real formal recognition of my photography work.

Collection of Rural and Urban Images

I took these images a few weeks back over a coupe of days between Christmas and New Years. I had to drive to Columbia Missouri for a project and decided to take the back roads home and photograph. I found some really interesting architecture, some abandoned buildings, and some powerful landscapes. Please enjoy. If you like these images please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.
Thanks!

Images from Portland Oregon

I have had the good fortune of traveling to Portland Oregon on business recently. On my last trip I was blessed to have great light in the form of clear bright sky and crisp sunshine. While some photographers don't like blue sky I find it  sometimes difficult yet enjoyable to work in. I spent much of a day walking as have on several occasion around Portland a city that I both love to visit and photograph. Portland is know as the Rose City I I spent almost and entire day in a section of Portland called Ladd's Addition. I also spent some time in downtown near the South Park blocks. I hope you enjoy these images!
